Berthoud Winery

About

Claude and Ann Berthoud founded the winery in 1972, building their program around a wine barn dating to 1919. The work begins in open-top redwood vats, where grapes are hand-punched down several times daily during fermentation. Estate grapevines yield less than two tons per acre. Pressing happens in a 19th century one-ton basket press, followed by 22 months in premier French oak. The red wine is bottled without filtration. Club members receive shipments in Spring and Fall, along with complimentary tours for up to four guests and up to 15% discount on orders.
