About August Hill Winery
August Hill Winery sits in Peru, Illinois, where Bubbly Wenzel shapes the program. The tasting room opens for Cave Tasting Experience, a guided journey through six hand-selected wines offered Saturdays and Sundays at noon, two, and four. Vineyard tours run alongside Wine on the Hill events, which operate from May 16 through October 31. Outdoor seating and a picnic area frame the experience. Food is available. The house also operates Illinois Sparkling Co., its sister brand.
Tasting Experiences
Wine on the Hill
Free outdoor hillside wine tasting experience with wine flights, wine by the glass and bottle, and light snacks available. Open Saturdays & Sundays, 12-5pm, May 16 through October 31. No reservations needed.
Cave Tasting Experience
Guided wine journey through working winery caves built into the hillside. Small group tastings (up to 20 guests, approximately 45 minutes) featuring six hand-selected wines and a signature tasting glass to take home. Available Saturdays & Sundays at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm. Reservations required.
Reservation to Relax
Reserved hillside seating for two guests including two Adirondack chairs, umbrella, 30-quart cooler with ice, bottled waters, and snacks. $30 per reservation ($27 for Wine Club Members), available 12-5pm.
Music on the Hill
Live music performances on Saturdays & Sundays, 1-4pm throughout the season featuring various genres including classic rock, country, blues, Americana, and indie.
Grapes & Hops Day on the Hill
Special event featuring August Hill & ISC wines, Tangled Roots Brewing Co. craft beers, food from Peru CSO, and live music by Boomstick.
