About Weingut Schäfer - Anja Schäfer
Eight hectares in Hochheim am Main, where Weingut Schäfer has worked since 1936. Josef Schäfer took over in 1997 after completing his diploma in viticulture and oenology at Geisenheim. Anja Schäfer, trained in winemaking and also a Geisenheim graduate, has led the program since mid-2025. Together they produce Riesling, Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, and Souvignier Gris. The cellar expanded in 2020 with a new production hall, supported by European and German agricultural funding. Three consecutive Staatsehrenpreise from Hesse arrived in 2018, 2019, and 2020. The portfolio appears regularly in Vinum and Eichelmann, and receives high marks in best-of-Riesling competitions and the Deutscher Rotweinpreis von Meininger.
