About Weingut Franz Josef Zimmermann, Joachim + Simone Becker
Weingut Franz Josef Zimmermann was founded in 1852 in Guldental. Simone Becker took over the estate from her father and now works alongside Joachim and their son Moritz, who completed a Bachelor of Science in Weinbau and Oenologie at Geisenheim University in 2017 and a Master of Science in Weinbau, Oenologie and Weinwirtschaft at Geisenheim University and Universität für Bodenkultur Wien in 2023. The winery manages ten hectares across three vineyard sites. Guldentaler Sonnenberg has steep slopes up to 60% gradient with red sandstone soils. Guldentaler Hipperich faces south-southwest on slopes reaching 40%. The winery produces Riesling, Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Kerner, Scheurebe, and Müller-Thurgau. A tasting room is available.
