1922 HOUSE VINEYARDS & WINERY, LLC

About

Nicholasville sits in central Kentucky, near the site of the first commercial vineyard planted in the United States. The winery takes its name from the home built in 1922, on a twenty-five acre farm in Jessamine County. Brian and Karla Young, both University of Kentucky graduates, started growing grapes and making wine here more than twelve years ago. Early on, they sold their wine to other regional wineries for bottling under separate labels. In 2018, they brought a local vote to their otherwise dry county and won the right to sell wine directly. The wines are made from Kentucky-grown grapes, crafted onsite, and the dry reds have collected multiple awards from national judges. A barrel aged wine remains the current best-seller.
